Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation supports its mission, to create and retain jobs in Southeastern Kentucky, in three ways. 1) Make sound investments in new and established businesses that have the potential to create or retain jobs in the region. Business loans and revolving lines of credit are available to qualified applicants. 2) Provide training in all areas of business including startup, business plan development, financial planning, human resources, sales and marketing, and raising money. Most classes are free-of-charge and are offered at convenient times on a monthly basis. 3) Provide managerial assistance through one-on-one business coaching. Entrepreneurs and former entrepreneurs are available for mentoring and can provide strategic planning specific to each client’s business. In addition, Kentucky Highlands has modern, furnished office space complete with communications and internet connectivity. In this space, business owners can operate their business while networking with Kentucky Highlands staff, funding sources and their fellow business owners. The office space is designed to encourage innovation, collaboration and learning.
